Load-bearing capacity test of the backpack
The load-bearing capacity test of a backpack is the core link in measuring its carrying safety and service life. By simulating three force states: static, dynamic and limit, the strength of the shoulder strap, the firmness of the stitching and the stability of the frame can be quantified, providing objective data for consumers and manufacturers.
1. Static Testing
Fix the backpack to the tensile platform and gradually increase the weight by 5kg step by step to 120% of the nominal load, and hold for 10 minutes. A shoulder strap extension of no more than 5mm and no broken stitches are considered qualified. The maximum instantaneous tensile force measured can reach 900N, ensuring that sudden lifting will not cause tearing.
2. Dynamic Testing
Load the bag with iron sand of equal weight, carry it on the dummy model, walk for 5 kilometers at a speed of 4km/h, and simultaneously apply vibrations with an amplitude of 50mm up and down. It is required that the shoulder strap has no slippage and the back plate does not deform. The qualified product has a seam slippage of no more than 2mm after vibration, which proves that it can still maintain a close fit even after long-term walking.
3. Extreme Testing
Continue to increase the weight to 150% of the nominal value and perform a 1.5-meter six-sided drop. Then, it was towed in a trolley box for 1 kilometer. It is considered passed if there are no cracks in the frame and the snap fasteners do not spring open. This test is designed for emergency handling or high-altitude fall scenarios, providing safety redundancy for extreme outdoor activities.
From laboratory tensile testing machines to simulated mountain road vibration tables, the data used in backpack load-bearing tests transform "durability" into quantifiable indicators. When consumers make a purchase, they can check whether the label indicates "passed 120% static tensile force and 5km dynamic test" as a quality reference. Only a backpack that has passed the triple test and still retains its intact stitching and frame is worth accompanying on a long journey.
